More About Me below…

I am a serial curator

Not long ago, while writing about all this, I had a thought… “I am a serial curator”. This gathering I do of good ideas, creative thoughts, beautiful and funny images, and things, has been happening my whole life, right back to childhood.

Now I’m working on “old” and new sites, this Express Yourself and 3 others, creating new formats and using new strategies to share good ideas I’ve run across. I’m sorting through all my photos, graphics, informational resources, blog content, and posting them across the various social media: Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, and my websites. I am hoping to share lots of the good ideas I run across. My talisman stories. That’s my meme dream.

I believe in self expression, and finding, exploring, and using our creativity, whatever it may be. It’s good for us!

Please get in touch if you have a comment, a story, or a question… Tell me how you express yourself!

More about me…

While raising a family and teaching full time, and pursuing an online presence in the hopes of pulling together my good ideas and supplementing my income, I also created a website on affiliate marketing, Find Good Affiliates (long gone), and a website for kids, Inspire Us Kids now Express Yourself Kids.

Then while on a work leave, I dropped into doll collecting, learning about eBay and Etsy, curating a phenomenal collection of doll characters, by well known designers like Dianna Effner and Berdine Creedy. I created a big photo site,Hiya Dolly”, telling stories with the cast of dolls I gathered, writing a weekly newsletter from the perspective of one of the Dolltown characters. And I created a kids education book on Amazon KDP, with my dolls as characters, Ana’s Alphabet Book A to Z”.

I take a lot of photos for my dolly stories and my life in general, so I created a website on the Smugmug photography platform (working on it).

After retirement from my 35 year teaching career, I spent seven years doing online work on Social Media and creating a a website for the Nicola Valley Community Arts Council. I interacted with my small community to develop, work on, and promote creative art and music programs and events, a Gift Shop, and our Art Gallery, where, as Gallery Curator, I put on 75 local artist exhibits. And loved our pblic art initiative, still going on! All definitely fun. But hard work!

During Covid and my community time, I was dealing with the death of my long time partner, and immersed myself in music. I discovered the 2Cellos, Bachata, and KPop, diving in to each of them, creating many playlists on my Youtube channel, “Meme Dreams Music Favs”, for my own library of music. This immersion into a new focus and collection led to a lot of journaling and a series of pages on a new “Meme Dreams Music” website project called “Mischief” with links to much of the music I enjoy. There I wrote about my grief journey and a peculiar body awakening I call “cells buzzing” (Feels good, although the intensity is disconcerting.)

Now, a sweet segue into a fulfilling relationship and an environment change back to the beautiful Okanagan Valley, where I spent years as a child, and a chance to self express in a whole new way.

And sharing…

Deep gratitude to my kids, my partner, my friends and colleagues. And to you, for reading this far. :)

My studio view. Window closed as fall cools us down. But the sun will come up soon and light up that lake…

Kitty not in her perch-with-a-view yet. Miffed that I’ve taken over her office chair…
